Haskell Vineyards is situated on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain range in Stellenbosch, in an area known as the Golden Triangle - widely recognized as one of South Africa’s finest wine-growing sub-regions and home to many of South Africa’s top wines. Haskell Vineyards is on an evolutionary journey, with Rudolph Steenkamp Winemaker and Vineyard Manager steering the proverbial ship.
Born and bred to farming stock on the Garden Route, Rudolph’s journey into wine commenced with an epiphany at a “Huis” Braai over a bottle of Kanonkop Paul Sauer. In this interview with Guy McDonald, you will discover more about the man, his philosophy and even the one subject he would love to learn more about.
You will also hear from Rudolph about the difference between the Haskell and Dombeya wine ranges and discover what steps to sustainability the farm and winery is taking. Here at Susan Stanleys Fine Wines, we are proud to partner with Haskell Vineyards in offering you six of their wines:
Haskell Flagship IV 2019 - A very special Bordeaux Blend comprised of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot & 14% Cabernet Franc all hand harvested, selecting only the best fruit
Haskell Flagship Pillars-Single Vineyard Syrah Reserve 2016 - The Pillars Syrah vineyards are grown in sandy, clay soils at the lowest altitude (200m above sea level) and always deliver a wine with a more... feminine touch.
Haskell Vineyards Dombeya Boulder Road Shiraz 2020 - Windy growing and ripening periods resulted in smaller berries, which lead to a good concentration of both, colour and flavour, making 2020 an exceptional year for red wines.
Haskell Vineyards Dombeya Lifestyle Fenix 2017 - Another award-winning wine from the Dombeya Lifestyle range, the Fenix 2017 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5 % Cabernet Franc.
Haskell Vineyards Dombeya Merlot 2020 - This wine drinks well now but can be aged for a further 8-10 years.
Haskell Flagship Anvil 100% Chardonnay 2020 – [Currently sold out] This 100% Stellenbosch Chardonnay has garnered high praise from many critics and it’s easy to taste why.
