In the Bottelary region, which Goede Hoop calls home, Shiraz does exceptionally well. Producing some of the best examples of the cultivar in the world. The terroir simply compliments the cultivar in an extraordinary way. On the farm they use a combination of wine from old and young vineyards in order to showcase the best of what the farm has to offer. The Goede Hoop Cellar, built in 1935, still uses its original cement tanks and “Kuipe” (Open top cement fermenters) to commercially produce all of their red wines. It has always been important to remain true to their roots, to produce smaller quantities of high-quality wine that celebrate this unique style of wine making.
