Background:

Nature, in her capricious dance, often cloaks truth in veils of mystery. Yet, in rare moments, she bestows upon us her grace, birthing magic. While we cannot summon these moments at will, we can honor them with the reverence they deserve. This is The Flagship.

Vintage Conditions:

The year 2018 bore witness to nature's benevolence, with good rains in 2014 nurturing the vines and a long, dry season without unwelcome heat waves. This extended growing period yielded one of the most intensely flavorful vintages in recent memory—a vintage that demands attention.

Treatment in the Vineyards:

Nestled on a slope of shale, this vineyard boasts a unique character, with slow growth throughout the season ensuring optimal ripeness and low yields. Tempered by south-easterly winds, the vineyard's exceptional balance shines through, reflecting in the wine's character.

Winemaking:

Crafted with precision, grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and meticulously sorted to select only the finest fruit. After two days of cold maceration, the juice meets a selected yeast strain, embarking on a journey of transformation. Alcoholic fermentation, guided by careful pumping over every five hours, lasts approximately six days. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation for three weeks before maturing in oak barrels, where it is racked twice over 48 months, with 60% first-fill barrels.

Winemaker's Comments:

Deep and rich, our Petit Verdot epitomizes robust intensity. With a deep ruby hue, it offers intense dark cherry and blackcurrant flavors, accompanied by refreshing acidity and complex savory undertones. Its succulent mouthfeel envelops the palate, leaving a lingering aftertaste of warm spices and dried fruit.

Maturation Potential:

While ready for enjoyment now, this wine holds the promise of further evolution over the next ten years, revealing new dimensions with each passing year.

Food Pairing:

Pair this richly concentrated wine with rich cuts of red meat, well-aged cheese, or wild game to elevate your dining experience to new heights.
